COMFORTLESS SEPULCHRAL (2012)

Comfortless Sepulchral (2012) is for unaccompanied viola. This dominantly dark piece is interjected with brief moments of light solo interplay. This is intended to sound angry at times with short moments of peace. The use of extended techniques and multiple stops create sharp timbre and color changes from the viola. This piece was premiered by Fort Collins, CO-based violist Andrew Zbryk in April 2013.
