​BROKEN RAIN MACHINE (2016)

Broken Rain Machine​ (2016) is based upon two rhythmic motifs that are presented first by the snare drum and is machine-like and nearly constant and the second is presented in the form of a rhythmic melody first hear in the unpitched metal tubes. The woodwinds and snare act as the machine, slowly breaking down over time as the aches and groans of its failing parts become more and more apparent. The job of creating rain and bringing life to the world has taken its toll on the machine and the strain becomes deafening. Finally, the machine lets out a final whistle, a sigh of relief as it finally comes to rest.
